Art Bra KC is a unique and fun auction event showcasing eclectic work-of-art bras modeled by breast cancer survivors to celebrate their triumph over cancer.
A tribute to survivors’ fighting spirit, Art Bra KC’s mission is to uniquely celebrate breast cancer survivors and provide funding for Kansas City area organizations that provide life-empowering services to uninsured and underinsured individuals who have been touched by cancer.
We are honored to have Adrienne Helvey and Sharon Snowden-Hake serving as our Co-Chairs, and welcome Former Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Kay Barnes and Former Kansas City, Kansas Mayor and leader of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County Carol Marinovich as Co-Honorary Chairs for our 2015 event.
A tribute to survivors’ fighting spirit, Art Bra KC benefits the University of Kansas Cancer Center Patients in Need Fund at Missys’ Boutique, and a new cancer appearance center opened in May, 2014 in the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Care Center at Truman Medical Center. These are accredited appearance centers for eligible uninsured/underinsured cancer patients. Approximately 70 work-of-Art Bras and amazing art items by local Kansas City artists will be auctioned to benefit these patient’s in need.
These one-of-a-kind Art Bras will be designed and created by family & friends of survivors, local artists, celebrities and volunteers.
The “Top 25″ bras are modeled and auctioned off during a live Fashion show. The other pieces of art and items will be intermingled for the silent and live auctions. Fashion show models are breast cancer survivors and patients; their runway costumes will coordinate to the theme of the Art Bra they model.
